The ambience of peacefulness and serenity makes Tibet different from rest of the Himalayan regions. Located 470 km from Bhutan at an altitude of 4,000m, Tibet is one of the most striking regions of the Himalayas. The best time to visit Tibet is between April and November.

Tibet and the trans Himalayan region showcase some extra ordinary landscapes. The towering mountain peaks and their solitude were awe-inspiring and endearing at once. Adventure lurks in each and every corner of the region. The way through the four mountain passes provides a beautiful panorama of a diverse culture and landscape. Buddhist monasteries and palaces of Dalai Lama are the main attractions of this region.

Tibet has some really cold climate throughout the year. It experiences extreme climatic conditions in the world. During the summer the temperature is cold but during winter it is freezing cold. In northern Tibet the average temperature is subzero. Winter lasts from October to May or June. The best time to visit Tibet is during July and August as the temperature is warm during this time. It is the time for sunshine, festivals and scenic beauty.

How to Reach
To reach the capital of Tibet i.e. Lhasa, foreigners usually starts their journey from Chengdu in Sichuan, Xining in Qinghai or Kathmandu in Nepal. If you wish to travel by air than direct flights are available between Chengdu, Sichuan and Lhasa. You can also opt for a two-hour journey between Chongqing and Lhasa as flights are available twice weekly. There are flights from Kathmandu to Lhasa

If you wish to travel by road than there is bus trip from Xining, Qinghai via Golmud to Lhasa. The trip takes a minimum of 2 nights and 3 days along the Qinghai-Tibet Highway. Even you can opt for the Kathmandu via Dram (Khasa) to Lhasa. This route brings you close to a number of popular sights, such as Shigatse, Gyantse, and the Everest base camp. It takes five to seven days of traveling over the Tibetan Highlands to get to Lhasa via this route.
