Binsar is a small, quiet hill station located at a distance of 26 kms from Almora. It was once the summer capital of the Chand Rajas (7th to 8th centuries) and is one of the most scenic spots in the Kumaon region and a very well known hill resort.

Binsar Hills known and Jhandi Dhar, rise to a height of 2412 metres and offers a majestic view of the Almora town, located below, the Kumaon hills and the greater Himalayas. The surroundings in Binsar are beautiful as well, with alpine flora, ferns, hanging moss and many species of wild flowers.

The main attraction of Binsar is the view of the Himalayas- a 300 km. stretch of the famous peaks which includes Kedarnath, Chaukhamba, Trishul, Nanda Devi, nanda Kot and Panchchuli.

The forests of Himalayan oak and rhododendron located around Binsar are excellent for trekking. It seems that time just stands still in Binsar. One keeps discovering new trails in the mountains and the valleys down below. This little hilly retreat makes the visitor feel one with nature.
